Value-Added Services

Value-added warehousing services in Los Angeles: relabeling, inspection, custom packaging and retail prep handled inside our own warehouses. Plenty of warehouses only want pallet in, pallet out. We do the work in between, so your inventory is ready for whichever customer, retailer or marketplace buys it next.

Why brands choose QX for value-added services

The work other warehouses skip

Opening cartons, swapping labels, inspecting goods, adding inserts: most warehouses avoid anything beyond moving pallets. We built our operation to say yes to that work, and we do it at volume.

One building, no extra freight

Value-added work happens in the same building that stores your inventory, so goods don’t travel to a separate prep vendor and back. Fewer moves mean lower cost, less damage and faster turnaround.

Tracked in Extensiv

Relabeled, inspected and reworked inventory is updated in our Extensiv WMS as the work is done, so on-hand counts stay accurate and you can see exactly what’s ready to ship.

Connected to our trucks

Because we run our own drayage and box trucks, prepped goods can go straight from our dock to the next stop: a retailer’s DC, a store, an Amazon fulfillment center or the next leg inland.

What is value-added warehousing?

Value-added warehousing covers the services a 3PL performs on your inventory beyond receiving, storing and shipping it: relabeling and reticketing, quality inspection, custom packaging, kitting, retail compliance prep and returns processing. It’s the work that turns stock sitting on a shelf into product that’s ready to sell in a specific channel.

For brands, the payoff is fewer vendors and fewer touches. Instead of shipping goods to a prep center, waiting and shipping them back, the work happens where the inventory already sits. At QX, that’s in one of our three Los Angeles buildings, 18 to 22 miles from the ports where many of our clients’ imports arrive.

Prep built around your channels

Different channels need different prep. A retailer wants its own price tickets, GS1-128 carton labels and pallet configuration. Amazon wants FNSKU labels, poly bags and suffocation warnings. Your DTC customers want branded packaging and a note that feels personal.

We prep the same inventory for each channel as orders come in, so you can move stock between ecommerce, Amazon and retail and wholesale accounts without sending it out for rework.

What’s included

Our value-added services cover the prep, rework and presentation work between receiving and shipping, handled in-house by the same team that stores and ships your inventory.

Everything handled under one roof

Value-added work is easiest when the warehouse and the trucks belong to the same company. Containers come off the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on our own drayage trucks, get prepped in our buildings and leave on our trucks or with partner carriers we manage.

Frequently asked questions

Value-added services in logistics are the extra services a 3PL performs on inventory beyond basic storage and transportation, such as labeling, kitting, packaging, inspection and retail prep. They make products ready for a specific customer or channel without sending them to another vendor.

We offer relabeling and reticketing, Amazon FBA prep, inspection and quality checks, custom packaging and inserts, sorting and segregating, pallet rework to retailer specs, returns processing and kitting and assembly. If your project isn’t on the list, ask. Custom work is a big part of what we do.

Most value-added work is priced per unit or per touch, such as per label applied or per unit inspected, with hourly rates for custom projects. Materials like labels, bags and packaging are billed separately or supplied by you. Share the scope and volumes and we’ll quote it.

Yes. When inventory moves to a new retail account or channel, we replace price tickets, barcodes and carton labels to that retailer’s requirements, so you don’t need a separate prep vendor before the goods ship.

Yes. We apply FNSKU labels, poly bag and protect items that need it, bundle sets and build shipments to Amazon’s inbound requirements, then send them to Amazon fulfillment centers from our Los Angeles warehouses.

Yes. Along with ongoing programs, we take on one-time projects such as relabeling a container for a new retail account, inspecting a suspect shipment or repacking goods for a promotion. Tell us the scope and deadline and we’ll confirm capacity.

Kitting assembles several items into one sellable unit, like a gift set or bundle. Other value-added services change or prepare existing units, such as relabeling, inspecting or repacking them. Many programs use both, and we handle each in the same building.
